The short answer
The main Klaviyo alternatives for a Shopify store are Amy, Omnisend, Mailchimp, Shopify Messaging, Postscript and Attentive. Pick by the reason you’re leaving. If the bill is the problem, choose a tool that doesn’t charge by list size: Amy bills per message sent. If you want an all-in-one tool you still run yourself, Omnisend and Mailchimp are the closest swaps. For the basics inside Shopify, there’s Shopify Messaging. For texting first, Postscript or Attentive. And if you want the work done for you, Amy plans, writes and tests your email and SMS, and you approve it.

Why stores look for a Klaviyo alternative
- The bill grows with the list. Klaviyo bills active profiles in tiers, and a list that crosses a tier line moves you to a higher plan at your next billing cycle, even in a month you send less. Klaviyo pricing, explained.
- It takes time to run. Klaviyo hands you a flow builder and a template library. Many stores hire a specialist or an agency to build and maintain it.
- Texting and AI cost extra. SMS is a monthly spend commitment and Composer, the AI, is sold in credits, each on top of email.
The alternatives
1. Amy
- Best for
- Stores that want the work done. Amy plans a month of campaigns on a calendar, writes 12 automations from your catalog, tests subject lines and popup styles herself, and warms up your sending domain. Each automation starts switched off. All 12 can send texts too, and texting stays off for each one until you turn it on. Campaigns always need your approval.
- How it charges
- $10 a month including 2,000 emails and your sending number, then $0.90 per 1,000 emails and $0.009 per text segment. Contacts are never billed. On Klaviyo’s published rates that’s up to 60% less for the same email volume.
- Know before you switch
- Amy runs on Shopify, with BigCommerce coming soon. There’s no flow builder or custom segment builder: you get 12 finished automations and 14 ready-made audiences. Your Klaviyo list comes over with one read-only key, consent and unsubscribes included.
2. Omnisend
- Best for
- Stores that want email, SMS and push notifications in one tool, and are happy to build the campaigns themselves. It has 15+ prebuilt automation workflows, popup, flyout and Wheel of Fortune forms, A/B tests on campaigns and inside automations, and AI writing help.
- How it charges
- By contact, subscribers and non-subscribers alike, though unsubscribed contacts aren’t billed. The Standard plan caps email sends; Pro sends unlimited email under a fair-use policy. Since May 4, 2026, SMS for new subscribers is a Pro-only add-on billed per segment. Omnisend’s pricing.
- Know before you switch
- You still run it yourself, and the bill still tracks your contact count. Omnisend vs. Klaviyo · Amy vs. Omnisend.
3. Mailchimp
- Best for
- General email marketing, with an official Shopify app from Intuit Mailchimp that syncs customers, orders and on-site behavior. A/B testing comes with Essentials and up.
- How it charges
- By contact, and subscribed, unsubscribed and non-subscribed contacts all count. You’re billed on your peak contact count for the period, and going over adds a charge rather than stopping sends. SMS is a paid add-on bought as monthly credits that expire. Mailchimp’s pricing.
- Know before you switch
- Unsubscribed contacts count toward your bill unless you archive them, and automations are limited on the lower plans. Klaviyo vs. Mailchimp.
4. Shopify Messaging (formerly Shopify Email)
- Best for
- The basics, inside your Shopify admin. It’s installed by default, has automation templates for abandoned checkout, cart and browse, welcome, post-purchase and win-back, and Shopify Magic helps write the copy. SMS arrived in December 2025.
- How it charges
- Per email sent, after a free monthly allowance. Abandoned-checkout automations don’t count toward it. Sending to subscribers needs a paid Shopify plan. Shopify’s pricing.
- Know before you switch
- Popups come from a separate app, Shopify Forms, and texts go out from a toll-free number that can’t receive replies.
5. Postscript
- Best for
- Shopify brands that lead with texting. SMS and MMS, with RCS in early access and email rolling out by waitlist. It enforces quiet hours, A/B tests campaigns and has an AI shopping assistant called Shopper.
- How it charges
- A monthly platform fee plus per-message rates, plus carrier fees passed through at cost. No fees for incoming messages and no contracts. Postscript’s pricing.
- Know before you switch
- Email is still rolling out by waitlist, so you may still need an email tool beside it.
6. Attentive
- Best for
- Mid-market and enterprise brands, in its own words. SMS, MMS, RCS, email and push, on Shopify, BigCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud and others, with A/B tests, quiet hours and AI products.
- How it charges
- Quoted, based on volume, list size, channels and AI products. It bills each message sent and each subscriber response, with discounts for a committed minimum spend. Attentive’s pricing.
- Know before you switch
- There’s no public price list, so expect a sales conversation.
How to choose
- If the bill is the problem, compare what each tool bills for: contacts (Klaviyo, Omnisend, Mailchimp), emails sent (Shopify Messaging, Amy) or messages on top of a platform fee (Postscript).
- If time is the problem, look at who does the work. The others give you builders and templates. Amy writes the messages and runs the tests, and you approve them.
- If you need a channel, check it: push (Omnisend, Attentive), RCS (Attentive, Postscript in early access), two-way texting (not from Shopify Messaging’s toll-free number).
- If you need branching journeys or deep custom segments, stay with a builder like Klaviyo.
Moving off Klaviyo
With Amy, you connect one read-only Klaviyo key. Your contacts, consent history and unsubscribes come over, and anything Amy can’t read is treated as do-not-send. You move automations across one at a time, so a customer never gets the same email from both, and your first sends go to people who opened or clicked in Klaviyo in the last 120 days while your new domain warms up. How to switch from Klaviyo, step by step.
Facts about each tool come from its own website and help center, gathered in October 2026: Klaviyo, Omnisend, Mailchimp, Shopify Messaging, Postscript and Attentive. We only quote Klaviyo’s prices, from its published rate card on a stated date. For every other tool we link its own pricing page, because prices change and the current figure is theirs to state.
