Comparison
Omnisend vs. Klaviyo.
Both are email and SMS platforms for ecommerce that you run yourself, and both bill by the size of your list. The differences are in what they count, how they cap sends and how they sell texting.

The short answer
- Both bill by your list. Klaviyo bills active profiles in tiers. Omnisend bills contacts, subscribers and non-subscribers alike. Neither bills unsubscribed contacts.
- Email volume: Klaviyo includes 10 times your profile tier. Omnisend’s Standard plan caps email, and Pro sends unlimited email under fair use.
- Texting: Klaviyo sells it as a monthly spend commitment. Omnisend sells it as a Pro-only add-on, billed per segment, since May 2026.
- Either way, you build it. If you’d rather have it written and tested for you, see Amy vs. Omnisend and Amy vs. Klaviyo.

How the pricing differs
Klaviyo publishes a price ladder by active profiles: $20 a month at 500, $100 at 5,000, $150 at 10,000 and $720 at 50,000, read from klaviyo.com/pricing on August 30, 2026. A profile counts if Klaviyo can email it, and growing past your tier moves you up a plan at the next billing cycle. Every Klaviyo tier.
Omnisend has three plans, Free, Standard and Pro, priced by your number of contacts. It counts subscribers and non-subscribers, leaves unsubscribed contacts out, and bills a contact on several channels once (Omnisend: plan charges). We don’t quote Omnisend’s prices here because we couldn’t capture its pricing page with a date. Check omnisend.com/pricing at your own contact count.
The practical upshot is the same on both: you pay for the people on your list, including the ones you rarely email. A tool that bills per message sent, like Amy, costs less in a quiet month and doesn’t rise when your list grows.
Automations and campaigns
Klaviyo gives you a flow builder, a template library and a full segment builder with deep conditional logic. You can A/B test campaign subject lines, content and send times, and individual emails inside a flow (Klaviyo: A/B testing flows). Omnisend gives you 15+ prebuilt automation workflows to set up and edit, with A/B tests on campaigns and A/B splits inside automations (Omnisend: prebuilt workflows). Both are tools: you decide what to send, write it and watch the results.
Texting
Klaviyo sells texting as a monthly spend commitment, at $15 a month for 1,000 US toll-free sends up to $240 for 20,000, plus carrier fees, at list price. Omnisend made SMS for new subscribers a Pro-only add-on on May 4, 2026, billed per 160-character segment at volume-based rates, and its Standard plan has no SMS for new subscribers (Omnisend: SMS subscription).
Signup forms
Klaviyo has popup, flyout, embedded and banner forms, a teaser to reopen them and a spin-to-win form (Klaviyo: form styles). Omnisend has popup, flyout, embedded and landing-page forms and a Wheel of Fortune that can include losing slices (Omnisend: form types).
Which one should you pick?
- Klaviyo, if you want a full segment builder and branching flows, and have someone to run them.
- Omnisend, if you want push notifications beside email and SMS, and prebuilt workflows to start from.
- Neither, if what you want is the result rather than the tool. Amy plans, writes and tests your email and SMS, bills per message sent, and you approve what goes out. All the Klaviyo alternatives.

Questions
Is Omnisend cheaper than Klaviyo?
It depends on your list. Both bill by the contacts you store rather than the emails you send, so compare both pricing pages at your own contact count, and check how each one sells texting. If most of your list rarely hears from you, a tool that bills per message sent costs less than either.
What’s the main difference between Omnisend and Klaviyo?
Klaviyo is built around a flow builder and a full segment builder. Omnisend bundles email, SMS and push with prebuilt workflows. Both are tools you run yourself, and both bill by list size.
Which has better SMS, Omnisend or Klaviyo?
They sell it differently. Klaviyo texting is a monthly spend commitment, $15 a month for 1,000 US toll-free sends at list price, plus carrier fees. Omnisend texting for new subscribers is a Pro-only add-on billed per segment since May 4, 2026.
Does Omnisend include SMS?
Since May 4, 2026, SMS for new subscribers is an add-on on the Pro plan only, billed per 160-character segment. The Standard plan has no SMS for new subscribers.
Is there an option where the emails are written for me?
Yes. Amy plans your campaigns and writes your automations from your catalog, runs the A/B tests, and waits for your approval. It bills per message sent instead of per contact.
