How to switch from Klaviyo.
A step-by-step plan to move your list, consent records, automations and signup forms off Klaviyo, in the right order, without double-sending or hurting deliverability.

The short answer
- Bring your list over with its consent and unsubscribes. Never import anyone as subscribed without proof they opted in.
- Warm up your new sending domain, starting with customers who opened or clicked recently.
- Move automations one at a time, switching each one off in Klaviyo as its replacement goes live.
- Swap your signup form, then take Klaviyo’s forms off your theme.
- Cancel Klaviyo last, once nothing there still does a job.
Before you start
Write down everything Klaviyo does for you today: the flows that are live, the signup forms on your site, any texting, and any other app that sends data to Klaviyo or reads from it. Note your Klaviyo billing date too. You’ll want both tools running side by side for a while, so plan the switch to finish before a renewal, not after.
1. Bring your list over, with its consent
Your list is only as good as its consent records. Move the unsubscribes and suppressions along with the subscribers, or you’ll email people who said no.
With Amy there’s no CSV export. You connect one read-only Klaviyo key. Amy reads your profiles, lists, segments and metrics, the key is encrypted, and nothing is ever written back to Klaviyo. Consent, unsubscribes and suppressions all come over, anything Amy can’t read is treated as do-not-send, and an old opt-in can never override someone’s opt-out. Amy also imports your Shopify customers with the marketing consent Shopify recorded.
2. Warm up your new sending domain
Your new tool sends from servers mailbox providers haven’t seen from you before. Sending your whole list on day one looks like spam. Start small, with the people most likely to open, and grow as the results allow.
Amy sets up DKIM and SPF and leaves your existing DNS alone. Your first sends go to people who opened or clicked in Klaviyo in the last 120 days, and your daily limit grows as those sends perform. How to warm up an email domain.
3. Move automations one at a time
If the same automation runs in both tools, customers get it twice. Move them one by one: turn the new one on, switch Klaviyo’s off the same day, and check the first sends. Start with the ones that earn the most, usually the welcome and abandoned cart.
With Amy, all 12 automations come already written from your catalog, each switched off. You read one, turn it on, and switch its Klaviyo flow off.
4. Swap your signup form
Turn on your new popup, then remove Klaviyo’s forms from your theme so shoppers don’t see two. Check it on a phone as well as a laptop.
Amy’s popup offers your signup discount, and Amy tests four styles (spin the wheel, pick a card, scratch-off and a classic form), keeping the one that collects the most contact details once it’s clearly ahead.
5. Pick up your campaigns
Amy plans a month of campaigns on a calendar around your sales, the holidays and the offers you approve, and writes each one for your approval. If you allow it, she reads which of your Klaviyo campaigns earned the most, and on which days and hours, and plans from your own history instead of starting from scratch.
6. Cancel Klaviyo last
Cancel when every automation runs in the new tool, the import has finished, your new domain can reach your whole list in one send, your new popup is live and Klaviyo’s forms are gone, and nothing else in Klaviyo still does a job. Amy’s settings include a Leaving Klaviyo page that checks each of these and shows the date your list will be fully reachable.
How long it takes
Bringing the list over and turning on automations is quick. The slow part is the warm-up, which depends on how big your list is and how your first sends perform, not on the calendar. Amy projects the date from your own numbers and shows it on the Leaving Klaviyo page.
Questions
How do I switch from Klaviyo?
Bring your list over with its consent and unsubscribes, warm up your new sending domain starting with engaged customers, move automations one at a time, swap your signup form, and cancel Klaviyo last, once nothing there still does a job.
Do I need to export a CSV from Klaviyo?
Not to move to Amy. You connect one read-only Klaviyo key, and Amy reads your profiles, lists, segments and metrics. Nothing is ever written back to Klaviyo.
Will my unsubscribes come over?
With Amy, yes. Unsubscribes and suppressions come over with your list, anything Amy can’t read is treated as do-not-send, and an old opt-in can never override someone’s opt-out.
Can I run Klaviyo and Amy at the same time?
Yes, while you switch. Move automations one at a time and turn each Klaviyo flow off as its replacement goes live, so nobody gets the same email from both.
Will switching hurt my deliverability?
Not if you warm up the new domain. Amy starts with people who opened or clicked in Klaviyo in the last 120 days and grows your daily limit as those sends perform.
How long does it take to switch from Klaviyo?
Bringing the list over and turning on automations is quick. The warm-up takes longer and depends on your list size and results. Amy shows the projected date your whole list will be reachable.
When can I cancel Klaviyo?
Once every automation runs in the new tool, the import has finished, your new domain can reach your whole list in one send, Klaviyo’s forms are off your site, and nothing else in Klaviyo still does a job.
