Alternatives
Postscript alternatives for Shopify SMS.
Five tools stores use instead of Postscript: how each one bills for texting, whether it does email too, and how to move your subscribers.

The short answer
The main Postscript alternatives for a Shopify store are Amy, Klaviyo SMS, Attentive, Omnisend and Shopify Messaging. Most stores looking around want email and texting in one tool (Postscript’s email is still rolling out by waitlist) or a simpler bill (Postscript charges a monthly platform fee, per-message rates and carrier fees). Amy texts at $0.009 per segment with nothing prepaid, and runs your email from the same automations.

Why stores look for a Postscript alternative
- Two tools for two channels. Postscript is SMS and MMS first, and its email is rolling out by waitlist (Postscript email), so most stores pay for an email tool beside it.
- Three lines on the bill. A monthly platform fee, per-message rates, and carrier fees passed through at cost (Postscript pricing).
- Texts and emails that don’t know about each other. With two tools, a shopper can get a text and an email about the same cart.
The alternatives
1. Amy
- Best for
- Stores that want email and texts written, tested and sent for them, from one set of automations. All 12 can send texts too, and texting stays off for each one until you turn it on. Campaigns always need your approval. Amy holds marketing texts outside quiet hours, handles STOP replies, and only sends marketing texts to people who opted in to them.
- How it charges
- $0.009 per text segment, pay as you go, with nothing prepaid. Email is $10 a month including 2,000 emails and your sending number, then $0.90 per 1,000. Contacts are never billed.
- Know before you switch
- Texting starts once carriers verify your sending number, which can take a little while. Amy doesn’t send MMS.
2. Klaviyo SMS
- Best for
- Stores already running email on Klaviyo that want texts in the same flows and segments.
- How it charges
- A monthly spend commitment on top of your email plan. Published US toll-free prices run from $15 a month for 1,000 sends to $240 for 20,000, plus carrier fees, read August 30, 2026. What SMS marketing costs.
- Know before you switch
- You commit to a monthly amount whether or not you send it, and the email side is billed by your list.
3. Attentive
- Best for
- Mid-market and enterprise brands, in its own words. SMS, MMS, RCS, email and push, with A/B tests, quiet hours and AI products.
- How it charges
- Quoted, based on volume, list size, channels and AI products. It bills each message sent and each subscriber response, with discounts for a committed minimum spend. Attentive’s pricing.
- Know before you switch
- There’s no public price list, so expect a sales conversation.
4. Omnisend
- Best for
- Stores that want email, SMS and push in one tool and are happy to build the campaigns themselves.
- How it charges
- Since May 4, 2026, SMS for new subscribers is a Pro-plan add-on billed per segment, on top of a plan billed by contacts. Omnisend SMS.
- Know before you switch
- Texting needs the Pro plan, and the email bill tracks your contact count. Omnisend alternatives.
5. Shopify Messaging
- Best for
- Simple texts from inside your Shopify admin. Texting arrived in December 2025, and text automations in May 2026.
- How it charges
- See Shopify’s help center for current texting prices.
- Know before you switch
- Texts go out from a registered toll-free number that can’t receive replies, so there’s no two-way texting.
How to choose
- If you want one tool for email and texts, pick one that does both well rather than pairing two.
- If you want a predictable texting bill, compare pay-as-you-go per segment with monthly commitments and platform fees at your real volume.
- If you need MMS, RCS or two-way conversations, check each tool: Attentive and Postscript offer more channels, and Shopify Messaging’s number can’t receive replies.
Moving your texting subscribers
Marketing texts need prior opt-in, so your consent records have to come with your subscribers. Amy reads the SMS marketing consent Shopify recorded for each customer, and only texts people who opted in. Before you switch, check that everyone who replied STOP in Postscript shows as unsubscribed in Shopify too. Your new number also needs carrier verification before it sends, so start that early and keep Postscript running until it’s done.
Facts about each tool come from its own website and help center, gathered in October 2026: Postscript, Klaviyo (prices read August 30, 2026), Attentive, Omnisend and Shopify Messaging. We only quote Klaviyo’s prices; check each tool’s own page for its current figure.
